Last night, at approximately 4:00AM, we were rudely awakened by a guest in our trash can. Because of our cantaloupe feed last night, we had taken out the trash and put a new bag in, so there was nothing in the trash. Upon hearing extensive rustling, I grabbed my trusty flashlight and pointed it in the general direction of the trash, and the noise stopped. I leapt off the top bunk (and by "leapt" I mean "crawled slowly and cautiously down"), ran over to my desk, and jumped on top. I shined my light into the trash, and the two black eyes of a mouse stared up at me. This was no big surprise; we had been hearing his little feet scampering about and later we would find little "gifts" for us. "GROSS!" I shrieked quietly to RaeLea, "It is IN the trash! WHAT do I do?" He just kept looking at me, totally still. Well, of course my first reaction was to take a picture of him. He was actually pretty cute. I felt like the guy from Ratatouille as he holds the rat over the river. Don't hurt me! I'm just trying to eat! Plus look at my big, cute eyes!! it seemed to be saying to me. Plus, even though he was tiny and cute, I wasn't fond of getting too close. He had, after all, managed to get himself in there. Getting out seemed much easier. But, eventually I climbed down from the desk and tied up the bag, and relocated him. Not killed- because, well, gross. Just relocated. Let's just say he's in a better place now.

Our dorm has a brand new kitchen this year, and so once in a while we take advantage and actually use it, instead of going to the caf. So last night Rae made potato soup and I made pasta, and then we came back up to our room for cantaloupe.

After we were sound asleep, we had a rude awakening by a midnight guest. But who was it? Stay tuned to find out :)

This weekend for Preview Days, my friend Missy came to visit me from California! We went on mission trip together one year ago, and we were so excited to finally see each other again! We had a great time, and I hope her stay at UC was fantastic!

Happy Sabbath, world of weebly. Today we enjoyed some time with friends when we went over to Nate's house for lunch. My friend Missy is visiting for Preview Days and we are having lots of fun :) More pictures to come, I'm sure. We decided to bring multiple food items to Nate's house and enjoyed tostadas, pasta, ice cream, and no bake cookies. Then we came back to UC for some time singing with the Preview Days kids.

We've tried candle warmers, we've tried Febreeze, and we've tried oil diffusers. Nothing seems to really get that "Wow, you're room smells GOOD" affect. Don't get me wrong, our room doesn't smell bad by any means, it could just smell better. So today we decided to try out an ingenious idea: Refresh: Odor Eliminating Auto Vent Sticks. That's right, strawberry lemonade car fresheners for your AC unit. Will it work? We will soon find out.

On Sunday evening we got back form Spring Break. It's hard to believe it's already over; The good thing is we have only about six weeks left! Time flies when you're having fun. My little succulents made it back alive, which is pretty amazing for me (I have absolutely no green thumb). I'm sure they just love their little windowsill home.

Haworthia Coarctata, Aloe Concinna, and a cactus (he doesn't get a fancy name).

A few Sabbaths ago, it was really "warming up" (it was 40 or 45º) so Mikey and I decided to go to the park with our friend Chris. It had really warmed up that week, so the ice on the lake had melted a lot. BUT, being boys, they thought it would be fun to take chunks of it and break it on the concrete. It actually looked pretty cool-

And so the guys had a great time breaking the ice, and we made it all the way around the lake without totally freezing. We also got to see some kind of rescue people training in the lake, sliding across the ice and such.

TLater that night, Mikey and I ended the evening with a trip to Ivanna Cone, a small family-operated ice cream shop. They have all kinds of outrageous flavors, like MangoChili (needless to say, Mikey quite enjoyed this one) as well as vegan options (he also enjoys these). I like to stick to flavors like Coconut.

I have recently added a few small plants to my collection here at UC. I have a small cactus which I've managed to keep alive for the past year or two. I also have a strange aloe plant from Mikey and a little bamboo piece I picked up at HyVee. This weekend, I got two more tiny succulents. They are so cute!

My favorite ASB event this semester has been Splash for Cash. This is when they throw (and by "throw" I mean "carefully swim around placing bills on the pool floor") $400 of bills in the LLC pool at a time, then anyone can dive in and collect as much as possible. They also have a cardboard boat contest, as well as various swimming and diving competitions.
