This post is dedicated to my dear roommate RaeLea. I've known her since I was little, we went to the same school but she was two grades ahead of me and thus a "big kid." In high school, however, we developed the same circle of friends and got to know each other a little better. This year I've gotten to know her even better than I thought I would. We've had a great time living together; we both love to be clean, organized, and studious.  Here's some of our favorite roomie pictures.

Here's RaeLea and I with our boyfriends, Mikey (mine) and Zach (hers) who just happen to be cousins :) isn't that cute?

Last semester (my first semester at Union) I decided to take a pottery class. It turned out to be SO much fun. Every Monday and Wednesday we had two hours to work on our projects. Here's some pictures!

Pot bone-drying before first firing.
One pot we made was a coil pot which we later raku (RA-koo) fired. This is when you use a special glaze, then while the pot is at max temperature in the glaze fire, you pull it out of the kiln and put it into a big metal can full of leaves (or old newspapers). You shut the lid, and let it spontaneously combust inside. This process brings the metals in the glaze to the surface in strange, shimmery flashes.

The finished product is a unique color scheme. Here's my pot with my cute little fern in it! Check for later posts about my plant life. Unfortunately, my lack of green thumb has almost done this fern in.

My final project- as many wheel-thrown pots as I could possibly make!

We had only been at school about a month when my friend Nathalia came across a teeny tiny kitten who needed a home. She named it Penelope, and the little kitty lived in the dorm for about two months.

Kitty was only three weeks old, so Thalia had to feed her with an eye dropper several times a day. [S]he had stolen our hearts. And that is the story of how we met Penelope, the kitten.

Since I've just started this blog but the year is almost over, I'm going to be writing several overview posts to make up for all that was missed first semester.

I came up to Union last August and moved into my dorm room!

Our room was sad and lonely when I first moved in, but a week later came my roomie, carpet, and our fridge! Move-in day was busy and scary for me, I had never lived away from home before! Luckily I didn't have to stay by myself while I waited for RaeLea, my roommate, because Mikey's sister was visiting during the time.

So now we have a beautiful room where we love to study, watch movies, eat, and chat it up!
