Ok... I'm not much of one to post lots of videos or anything (unless they pertain to nerdy travel stuff!) but I must point out that this guy has got it going on.

There are five cacti on my windowsill
and a bonsai tree, living happily together
in any kind of weather they get along

....This is actually a song, I kid you not. It's called "The Cactus Song" and I have no idea what is it other than a song about cactus. And I do have five cacti on my windowsill, except one is an aloe vera. So maybe I'll write a new song "There are Five Succulents on a Shelf by my Window" ...not as catchy.Today I added a new cactus to my plant family. They are sort of cactus twins, some kind of siamese cactus thing going on. They're my birthday cactci, thanks to my mother.

The little pot I put them in is one that I made in pottery this last school year. It's just a little wheel-thrown pot but after it dried out a little bit I cut the edge to a scallop. Almost all of my pots are this lightish blue color, because I was rather picky and didn't have a lot of glazes to choose from.
So... why the obsession with the succulents? I don't really know. They are just so cute and are so different from each other. Plus, they are pretty easy to care for *knock on wood* Just put them in the sun and water them every once in a while and you are set to go! I got these little guys at Home Depot but they are also available at any nursery or garden center.

My mom's vintage Fleetwood.
One of the best gifts I have ever received is my Singer sewing machine. During the summers that I was 10, 11 and 12, my friend Rachel and I spent a week at what we fondly referred to as "Sewing Camp." It was a 4-H day class that ran one week and taught kids (mostly girls... although two boys stand out in my mind who clearly hated it, and spent the whole week sticking pins in their sewing tomatoes) our age how to use sewing machines, follow patterns, and other basic sewing knowledge. When I graduated from eighth grade, my grandma got me my very own sewing machine- a brand new silver Singer. I've used it constantly since then.

Last week, however, just as my mom was about to use my machine for a project, something went awry. I'm no expert but it seemed to be something with the bobbin alignment below the needle. So it needs to take a trip to the shop. In the meantime, we lugged out my mom's vintage Fleetwood. Growing up, I always had the idea that this was an old machine that never, ever worked. However, once we got it going it worked quite nicely! My dad got it for my mom around the time I was born, and I just love how cute and vintage it is. It worked great for my project (various dresses-to-skirts projects and other easy fixes).

Check out my travel tab for a video that shows what it's like to walk, bike, or drive through a NYC intersection.

I saw these little guys last week when I was leaving for work. They were so cute and dainty and tiny!
Oh, and if you don't get the post title read it out loud. Quickly.
Keep trying :)

...just not this book.
Last Saturday Mikey and I have been dating two years. Yes, the same day Zach proposed.
I think someone was trying to steal our thunder ;-)
not.
So Mikey thought it would be cool to have a "false book" but had neither the patience nor the cutting abilities to carry it out. I mean that in the most loving way possible :D
So, I made him one. I wish I had pictures of the whole thing, but I don't.
The next day, he stopped his one-year of strict vegan-ism, so of course I supplied chocolate bars and swiss miss.

oh- don't worry. It's an old Readers Digest compilation book. We have a spare copy.

No... not starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.
Starring two of my best friends :)
Congratulations to my roomie and one of my best friends, RaeLea and Zach!
Zach proposed last Saturday night. She said yes.
They're getting hitched next June :)

So... excuse time.
Arielle and Grandma, I've been busy. I know I have no horde of followers so I'll keep it simple ;-)
Since we got back from our big trip, I spent a few days with Mikey and then started work. RaeLea and I work at the same daycare and run a preschool classroom together.
So it's me, RaeLea, and 18 three-year-olds. Approximately. All day.
So you can see why, at the end of the day, I am rather exhausted and not exactly in a bloggy-mood.
But I hope to resume soon. Actually, now.
ready.. GO!
