Last semester (my first semester at Union) I decided to take a pottery class. It turned out to be SO much fun. Every Monday and Wednesday we had two hours to work on our projects. Here's some pictures!
One pot we made was a coil pot which we later raku (RA-koo) fired. This is when you use a special glaze, then while the pot is at max temperature in the glaze fire, you pull it out of the kiln and put it into a big metal can full of leaves (or old newspapers). You shut the lid, and let it spontaneously combust inside. This process brings the metals in the glaze to the surface in strange, shimmery flashes.
