We finally arrived in NYC around noon yesterday after two long days of driving. My mom and I headed straight to the show to get her booth set up and my dad and Logan took all our stuff to the hotel. After a few hours of setting up, my grandparents and dad and Logan came back to pick us up. We visited the big fancy Apple Store, walked by Central Park, ate Thai food, and got ice cream.

Happy Easter! We decided to come to Mikey's house for the weekend, and yesterday we had a great time at the zoo! The Sedgwick County Zoo is apparently the 18th largest in the US and was pretty impressive. It was a rather chilly day for late-April (considering we are NOT in cold Nebraska) but good for zoo-going. Just warm enough to not be too cold, but just cool enough that the zoo did not suffer from huge crowds. Plus they were giving out candy for Easter!

This guy was super cool. He was so big and tame, and he didn't seem to mind hanging out with us. We kept trying to get him to fluff up his tail, but I guess we just weren't his type.

Another really cool place was the Jungle room, it was SO HOT and humid in there, and they had all these steam and mist machines running (top left). There were bats in all the trees (bottom left) and it really felt like you were in the rain forrest or something... like on the set of Jurassic Park.

Baby camel who was pretty cute.

Overall, we had a great time at the zoo, and we are thinking that hopefully, weather permitting, that next weekend, our last before we move out, we will be able to hit up the Omaha Zoo.

I would want to see-

Just last summer we were here in Estes Park, CO, and didn't see a single elk!

Today we went to Mt. Rushmore. Another nice day, around 50º all day depending on the altitude. We walked around the memorial for a bit, and then we took a scenic drive.

Ok, enough about last year. This spring break we traveled to the black hills of South Dakota. Today we skied at Terry Peak. It was a beautiful day, about 50º on the slopes.

Ready to go!
We are still deciding on what we are going to do tomorrow... stay tuned!

Here are a few more pictures from the "after-trip" when we went to La Ceiba, Honduras.

After my Marine Biology trip last year, I didn't even get to go home before I left for a mission trip to Honduras. I went with a group from Summit Ridge Adventist Church and Loma Linda Adventist Church, run by Maranatha Volunteers International. We went to a small town called Valley de Angeles, Honduras, near Tegucigalpa, and built multiple one-day churches as well as ran a VBS at the local school.

Tonight, as I sit here in my college dorm room and my roommate and I pack for spring break, I can't help but wish it was last year, when I was headed on the best school trip ever. My science teacher decided to take us on a Marine Bio trip to Monterey Bay for the first half of spring break, and it was a BLAST. We stayed at Monterey Bay Academy, and our activities included going to Monterey Bay Aquarium, Whale Watching, Kayaking, Point Lobos State Park, and going tidepooling. For a bunch of midwesterners, this was quite the opportunity. And so it was that a year ago tomorrow, seven seniors, three juniors, a science teacher and three parents set out on a truly amazing trip. My favorite activity was on Sabbath, our first day, when we went to Point Lobos and hiked around the whole park. We all also really liked tidepooling and seeing all the anemones, urchins, and starfish. In the evenings, we would gather around and play board games, snack on fresh Cali fruit, and work on our lab reports. Here's some pictures from our trip, I've decided that for big albums like this it's better to put a photo gallery, plus then you can click them and they enlarge!

I decided for this post that I would see how the "Photo Gallery" setting worked. Two summers ago, my family took an amazing three-week trip across the country, stopping at the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion NP, and Arches NP, to name a few. We had a wonderful time, so here's a few pictures from our trip.
